If you’re going to be two-faced at least make one of them pretty

Catching Feelings #4
“Your pizza looks absolutely disgusting.” Allie laughed as Justin pulled their pizzas out of the oven. Hers was very pretty, looking much like a pizza you would see on a commercial for a pizza place. Justin’s looked much more ragged. He’d added everything you could add to a pizza, from anchovies to full strips of bacon; if it was edible, Justin had included it on his pizza.
“I think it looks delicious.” He smirked, getting plates and silverware out of the cupboard. He set them on the counter as Allie cut the pizzas with a gold-plated pizza cutter. Only Justin, she thought, would have such an item.
“Do you want to eat while we watch the movie?”
“Sure.” She nodded. That was much of how she spent her days at home. Her dad wasn’t the best cook, so most nights they got take out and watched whatever was on. She knew he was doing the best he could, and she didn’t resent him for it. She enjoyed their nights together.
Justin decided the full-sized movie theater was much more exciting than his normal upstairs television, so he led her down the stairs and to the theater.
“Holy cow. This is a normal sized movie theater!” She was awestruck as they walked into the room. A huge television screen was mounted on the wall. The seating was tiered, just like a normal movie theater, with big recliners and sofas on each level. “This is so cool!”
“I’m glad you like it.” Justin laughed, sitting down on the couch in the middle. He was pleasantly surprised when Allie sat down next to him, not even making him ask.
“So what are we watching tonight?” Allie smiled. Justin watched as she curled her feet under her. He loved that she wasn’t acting nervous or strange just because she was hanging out with him.
“I got my hands on the new Leonardo DiCaprio movie that isn’t even out yet.” He smirked, wondering if she would connect the dots. And she immediately did.
“I thought I told you I didn’t want a date!” She playfully hit his arm.
“You’re on a date with Justin Bieber! Most girls would live for an opportunity like this!” He was laughing and Allie just watched him, observing how cute he was when he laughed.
“Just play the movie.” She sighed, pretending to be mad. But in all reality, she was torn. She was trying to keep distance from them because she didn’t want to hurt him. She kept reminding herself of that. She did not want to go down as the girl who broke Justin’s heart, but she knew that’s what was going to happen if she let herself get too close to him.
But Allie couldn’t deny that she was getting more and more attached to him as the night went on. He was cute. He was funny. He was so adorable when he laughed. She loved how nervous she made him.
Throughout the movie, Justin tried to keep his mind off of the beautiful girl sitting next to him. He so badly wanted to wrap his arm around her, or put his hand on her knee. But, he tried to remember that Allie didn’t want to date him.
Halfway through the movie, he couldn’t handle it anymore. He fake yawned, trying to be as subtle as possible, letting his arm reach across her.
“Are you serious right now?” She laughed at him. “Guys learned that move in the second grade.”
Justin was slightly nerved, wondering what he should do. He left his arm there, waiting to see if she would say anything. When she instead went back to the movie and smiled, he took it as a good sign.
“So how long have you been volunteering at the children’s hospital?” Justin asked when the movie was over as he gathered their dirty dishes.
“Uh,” She started to ask what he was talking about, until she remembered the night they had met. Had he mistaken her for a volunteer? That made perfect sense. She smiled, seeing this as an out. “About six months.”
“That’s really great. You’re doing a really good thing.” He smiled and Allie couldn’t help but feel a little bad. She was purposely deceiving him, yet she reminded herself that she was doing it for his sake. If he knew, it would complicate things. Instead, she would continue to hide the fact that she wasn’t a volunteer. She would hide her hospital visits. She would hide everything from him, which would be easy since they weren’t going to date anyways.
Twenty minutes later, Allie saw headlights pull into the drive as Justin opened the gate from the house.
“I had a really great time tonight, Allie.” Justin started, clearing his throat and trying to get rid of his nerves.
“I did, too. It was fun.” She smiled, praying he wouldn’t try anything.
“So, you think we could do this again some time? Maybe when I get back from Atlanta?” Justin held his breath. He knew how hard he had worked to get this date, he just hoped that she realized how much fun they had together.
“I think that we can maybe work something out.” She said, with a grin on her face, and Justin felt himself relax a little. He had warmed to Allie’s somewhat snarky attitude, finding it much easier to read her now. “Well, my dad is waiting.” She said, waiting for him to open the door.
“Goodnight, Allie.” He leaned in for the kiss, feeling that sudden surge of courage again. She saw it coming and turned her head to the right, landing his lips right on her cheek.
“Goodnight, Justin.” She was laughing as she opened the door for herself. He was slightly mortified, yet still stricken with her. He watched as she laughed all the way to the car, hoping that he would see her again soon.
